2011 wrap up
2011/07/05 @ 05:07:15 PM
At the conclusion of 2011, the University of Maryland Placed 4th overall in the FSAE West 2011 event, and finished 2nd in the Dynamic events. This year was quite a test of the Maryland team, as extremely aggressive changes to the aerodynamic system and other features of the car were made. The team, led by Ben Brooke, was faced with many difficulties at the event, including regulating the sound output of their motor. The team spent all day friday getting their car through tech inspection, and finally succeeded. 2011 will be known for a great team that worked till the bitter end and never gave. Perseverance won this time. Way to go Terps Racing!

Yesterday Terps Racing brought out there new car to the SCCA's driving school test track at Fed Ex Field. The track record was previously held by Brian Garfield in his F125 with a 26.3 second run. On our first hot lap Mike Stanley ran a 26.2, and towards the end of the day after lots of setup changes dropped his lap times down to 25.2 seconds. This is almost 1.3 seconds faster than Terps Racing 2009 car. Good Job everyone and a special thanks the the WDCR SCCA!

Terps Racing is proud to announce we will also be competing in Alabama April 16-19, 2009. The team has been working hard on fabricating new parts for the 2009 car and improved parts for the 2008 car. Currently the testing team has instrumented the 2008 car for data acquisition to continue making improvements and adjustments for both cars. Currently strain gauges, accelerometers, string potentiometers and driveline instrumentation have all been installed on the car. We expect to have our rolling chassis fully completed before the end of the semester. The team will be making several trips to local testing sites to work on driver training. With a fully dedicated team, we expect to have a promising future in competitions.
